Hi there! I’m Nicolas and I’m from Colombia. I lived there for 12 years, and yes, I was born there. Colombia is situated on the northwest of South America. Its borders are Venezuela and Brazil to the east, Perù and Ecuador to south, Panama to northwest, Atlantic Ocean to north and Pacific Ocean to west.Its capital is Bogotà and other cities are Medellin, Cartagena and Cali. Colombia was one of the Spanish colonies.
For centuries Colombia was bigger and it was called Nueva Granada. In 1810-1819 there was a independency war that ended with the “Batalla de Boyacà” the Boyaca’s battle. Colombia is sadly know for the traffic of drugs, but it’s one of the richest countries for its bio diversity, there are a lot of plants and flowers.
There are also many species of animals like the poisonous tiny frogs and many animals endangered like the Tigrillo (it’s a tiny wild tiger). Colombia has many different landscapes, it has got deserts, mountains chains like Los Andes and also big forests and coasts. The longest river is the Magdalena River. There are many traditional dishes. One of these is the Empanada. It’s a half moon made with corn flour and inside there is rice, meat and sometimes peas, the recipe can change in the different parts of Colombia. There is also the lechona, it’s cooked pork with inside rice and peas, and the bunuelos, balls of fried flour and cheese, a typical Christmas dish. I hope you enjoyed it, bye!!
